Ellen Espenschied Dickinson received the Master of Music degree in organ from the Yale School of Music and Institute of Sacred Music, and the Bachelor of Arts in music from Yale College.
Ms. Dickinson joined the Yale Guild of Carillonneurs as a sophomore and was co-chair of the group during her junior and senior years. She served as summer carillonneur for three years. She has been on several tours with the guild, and attended the Summer Academy at the Netherlands Carillon School in Amersfoort in 1998, where she studied with Todd Fair.
In June 2000, she became a member of the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America by playing a successful advancement recital at the annual congress, held that year in Frederick, Maryland. In 2001 she undertook a tour of carillons in the eastern United States. Together with Yale Guild of Carillonneurs member Roy Lee, Ellen played over 30 concerts in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Michigan, and Illinois.
Currently Ellen serves on the Board of Directors of the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America, and is on the jury for the GCNA advancement exam committee. She is Editor of The Bulletin, the GCNA's annual scholarly publication.
